Customer reactions and media stories have apparently hit home at AT&T. The carrier has now clarified its throttling policy, which is the practice of reducing wireless speeds for heavy data users who still have unlimited data plans. Some customers have reported a 99% speed reduction for the balance of their billing cycles. Here is the policy: Customers with 3G unlimited data service who exceed 3 gigabytes in a billing cycle and 4G LTE customers who use more than 5 gigabytes will have their speeds reduced. AT&T has not said how much the speed will be reduced. Customers will receive a text when they near the limit.
