When you get a new smartphone, it will almost certainly be preloaded with applications that you did not request. Many are free, useful, convenient and even necessary to get the most out of your device. But some are not free, and you may not want them. Many have “free trials” that you must cancel after the trial period (if you accept it) or it will automatically convert to monthly fees. One such app is City ID. After the free trial you will automatically be charged $1.99 per month on your bill. If you want to cancel it, go to apps and look for City ID. Click on it and indicate that you want to remove it. Do not be intimidated by the stern message about “no longer being able to use this enhanced caller ID.” Check out all your apps to make sure you are not paying for ones you do not want.
