Grudi Managed Mobility, Telecom & IT Are Saving CNB Well Over $750,000 per Year While Greatly Enhancing Capabilities

CNB Financial Corporation – headquartered in Clearfield, PA, includes more than 90 branch locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Virginia. Over the past decade, CNB Financial acquired FCBank, Erie Bank, Bank on Buffalo, Ridge View Bank and ESSA Bank. These acquisitions mostly still operate under those bank names. It recently launched Impressia Bank, which is dedicated to the professional and financial development and advancement of women business owners and women leaders. As CNB expanded, existing Mobility, Telecom and IT systems and services became outdated and inadequate. CNB called upon Grudi to help.

The Challenge

CNB had been experiencing significant success and growth by building on its core values; however, through that positive evolution, it had outgrown its Mobility, Telecom and IT. Legacy technologies and services had become outdated, inefficient and unnecessarily costly. In addition, it was facing difficult contractual issues, resulting from less-than-optimal service expansion. The current IT administration at the bank inherited an environment with complex, long-standing challenges. Recognizing the need to modernize and optimize key areas, they engaged Grudi to provide the expertise and support required to drive significant improvements.

Among the key issues were:

  • Provider contracts for services that turned out to be unnecessary.
  • Internet circuits and telephone lines that did not mesh with CNB’s technology plan.
  • Fiber circuits that were procured but not needed and never installed.
  • The number of internet connections in various locations needed to be reviewed.
  • Duplicate internet connections in some locations and sometimes up to five circuits where only one was needed.
  • The presence of an MPLS network with relatively low bandwidth at a high
  • Less than optimal internet connection efficiency and redundancy.
  • Many legacy TDM lines that needed elimination or replacement.
  • Noncentralized, inconsistent purchase of mobile devices from various stores by individuals.
  • All mobile lines were on an account where they all had costly unlimited plans.
  • Twenty percent of active mobile lines had no activity yet were incurring cost.
  • While CNB had a Mobile Device Management (MDM) system, it didn’t have Apple Business Manager (ABM).
  • Mobile devices had to be manually set up in the MDM system, requiring staff time and effort.
  • Many legacy mobile devices were in storage, unused.
  • Mobility services were with three carriers, with three sets of invoices to review.

The Solution

After a thorough analysis of CNB’s technologies, Grudi’s team developed a comprehensive solution that centered around Grudi Managed Services.

The solution included:

  • Developing a plan to solve the contractual challenges CNB was facing – agreeable to all parties – avoiding costly and time-consuming litigation.
  • Creating an inventory of all Mobility, Telecom and IT services and assets to help identify duplications and unnecessary items and generate cost savings.
  • Upgrading network design to significantly improve bandwidth, carrier diversity and cost savings.
  • Identifying all legacy TDM services that could be either terminated or replaced at a much lower cost.
  • Outsourcing all these activities to Grudi’s team of expert professionals.
  • Performing a complete analysis of CNB’s Mobility services and devices to identify how they could be optimized.
  • Establishing a standardized mobile device onboarding and offboarding process to have better control. This included identifying a standard phone.
  • Moving all the bank’s mobile lines to the same unlimited plan structure to lower the monthly cost and improve efficiency.
  • Identifying which mobile devices need more priority data and setting them up appropriately.
  • Identifying and cancelling unnecessary mobile lines.
  • Linking CNB’s ABM and MDM accounts automatically have new devices added to its MDM system.
  • Safely recycling CNB’s many unused or obsolete devices and processing them for buyback.
  • Utilizing Grudi’s Managed Solutions on an ongoing basis to optimize CNB’s technology, enhance capabilities and save cost.

By partnering with Grudi, CNB is enjoying greater efficiency, enhanced capabilities, lower costs and better use of staff time and effort.
